A MAN has been arrested when drugs believed to be heroin were found after police raided a converted bus in Banbury.
The 44-year-old man surrendered after 15 officers tried yesterday to force open the doors of the single-decker bus, which was parked off Southam Road.
Wraps were found, along with four cannabis plants. The man, who lived on the bus, was arrested on suspicion of possession of class-A drugs with intent to supply and possession of class-C drugs.
PC Paul Froggatt, who led the operation, said he was very pleased with the result: "We are acting on intelligence - intelligence coming in from the community. We are reliant on that as a police force.
"I'm happy we managed to secure entry and our initial search found a quantity of drugs and a male was arrested."
He said the team hoped to uncover more drugs as the search continued.
The raid, which involved 15 officers, was part of Operation Falcon, a Thames Valley Police initiative to tackle drug crime. The raid also coincided with the Government's National Tackling Drugs Week.
