DRIVERS in Banbury and Bicester will now be able to pay for their parking by phone.
From today, Cherwell District Council-owned car parks will be operating the RingGo' system, which allows drivers to pay for and top up their parking time by using their debit or credit card over the phone.
It will still be possible to pay using cash.
The move follows a recent decision by Oxford City Council to extend the RingGo system to all its 26 car parks following a successful trial run.
It will be in place in all the council's 26 pay and display car parks in the two towns.
Nigel Morris, portfolio holder for urban and rural services at the district council, said: "Cherwell is making parking easier for drivers with the introduction of this new service.
"It means there's no need for drivers who use pay by phone to carry coins around. In addition, they can always pay the exact amount.
"And they can top up without having to return to their cars, if for example, they've been held up in a business meeting or out with friends."
