Publisher Haynes and motoring magazine Autocar have worked together to produce a new series of books covering iconic modern road cars.

Each title collects all the best Autocar material, including road tests, comparison tests and features in a brightly designed, information-packed book with lavish photography.

One of the £19.99 titles with particular local interest focuses on Aston Martin which, under Ford ownership, began a resurgence in the early 1990s buoyed by a range of new models, starting with the DB7.

The material features numerous DB7 derivatives including the V12-engined Vanquish - the fastest Aston Martin and is brought up to date with the hugely successful DB9, the V8 Vantage and the latest DBS.

Another volume looks at a car which has become synonymous with Banbury's Prodrive team. Until the launch of the Impreza Turbo, Subaru was best known for producing rugged, reliable, four-wheel-drive workhorses. With 25 years of experience designing and producing 4x4 vehicles, Subaru was in a perfect position to adapt its technology to suit high-performance cars, and the Impreza was designed from the outset with a performance model in mind. The Impreza elevated the Subaru brand from niche manufacturer to household name, thanks in no small part to the performance of the works team on the World Rally stage.
