Our councils are being petty when they order charity organisers to take down roadside signs advertising their events.
Those in charge of the historic Bampton Great Shirt Race are the latest to fall foul of the regulations.
They have been putting up signs for years, and this time they have had a clash with officialdom.
We can understand councils' reluctance to allow commercial firms to advertise along our roads.
But surely, volunteers helping a good cause shouldn't be saddled with such red tape?
Life for many will be poorer if less money is raised.
