How I agree with Bob Vincent's letter, Tram support (Oxford Mail, May 14).
It is a joy to walk through the centre of Friburg, a south German city, which is comparable to Oxford.
It has converted its one remaining bus route so all four streets are served by trams.
Vienna, Zurich, Amsterdam and Innsbruck are also almost completely bus-free in their centres.
Oxford retained horse trams until 1914, because an alternative form of transport could not be decided. Why isn't Oxford City Council progressive enough to introduce modern trams?
Oh, by the way, what happened to the railway station suggested for Kidlington?
