Former Labour MP Tony Benn was the lead speaker at the weekend's Levellers' event in the town.
On Saturday, Mr Benn, 83, spoke to about 300 people at the 34th Annual Levellers' Day at Burford Church.
The event commemorated three soldiers who were executed on Oliver Cromwell's orders in the churchyard.
They belonged to a movement known as the Levellers, which believed in civil rights and religious tolerance.
