THE candidates hoping for election to Oxford City Council in next month's Holywell by-election have been announced today.
The by-election has been called after 25-year-old Liberal Democrat Richard Huzzey confirmed he was to take up a research post at Yale University in Connecticut, America, in the autumn.
He announced he was quitting soon after the elections on May 1 to allow the by-election to be held on June 12 before students - who make up a large percentage of the ward - disappear for the summer.
Former Liberal Democrat-turned-Conservative Paul Sargent, who lost his seat in Holywell on May 1, is hoping to make a swift comeback.
The full list of candidates is:
- Sarah Hutchinson (Labour)
- Mark Mills (Liberal Democrat)
- Paul Sargent (Conservative)
- Chip Sherwood (Green).
