Witney's Rotary Club is reaching out to poor teenagers in Africa.
It has set up a link with another Rotary Club in Johannesburg, South Africa, to support an educational project.
With the help of The Rotary Foundation, which raises money to improve health, support education and alleviate poverty, they have secured more than £10,000 for a school for children with learning difficulties in one of the city's townships.
It is run by Greta Phahla and Iris Nkuna, who both retired and used their pension money to fund the Orhovelani Education Centre.
Richard Smith, a Rotary club spokesman, said the centre started with 10 teenagers who had dropped out of school, teaching them basic literacy and numeracy.
Mr Smith added: "The grant will provide about £10,600.
"This is vital funding, which will be used to train the first batch of learners, redecorate the school and provide some new equipment.
"This will enable the centre to continue to expand and help more young people grasp the life-changing skills of reading and writing that you and I take for granted."
