County councillor Larry Sanders's letter about the transport budget proposals of the Green Party (Oxford Mail, April 30) failed to point out that it did not contain £100,000 to investigate a rent-a-bike scheme for Oxford.

It also failed to point out that the Greens would charge at Thornhill and Water Eaton park-and-rides, something that my new friends on the city council realise is a retrograde step in encouraging people to use them. By encouraging people to use the park-and-rides linked with encouraging cycling, the Conservative county council is trying to reduce the number of vehicles going into the city, thereby improving congestion and air quality, something I thought the Green Party was in favour of.

The issue of 20mph speed limits in the city is about delivery and I am pleased to say that the Conservative county council has been delivering 20mph schemes across the city and will continue to do so.

Oh, and by the way, the county council elections are next year.
