NEIGHBOURHOOD officers did not catch any speeding drivers through rat-runs during an operation in Oxford yesterday.

Officers carried out a survey between 3pm and 6pm, monitoring the speed of vehicles in Old High Street, Osler Road, Sandfield Road and Barton Lane.

PC Chris Miles, pictured in Old High Street, said the roads had been highlighted by residents as part of the consultation for the local Neighbourhood Action Group.

However, more than 100 motorcyclists were stopped in a crackdown on the A415 at Burcot and A4074 in Shillingford on Monday evening.

Police said about 400 motorcyclists were at a regular gathering at nearby Fox's Diner at Dorchester.

Officers stopped 110 bikes and cars and dealt with 31 motoring offences.

Last month, rider Mark d'Ardenne, 22, of Marlow, in Buckinghamshire, was killed in a head-on crash on the A4074 Dorchester bypass after visiting the diner.

Insp Paul Winks, Oxfordshire head of roads policing, said: "The vast majority of motorcyclists are honest and law-abiding people but they are being let down by a small minority while driving to and from Fox's Diner."
