I agree with Peter Collett about the use of trams in Oxford (Oxford Mail, May 7).
They could quite easily be used in a loop from The Plain up the High, down St Aldate's, past the ice rink, stopping briefly at Oxford railway station, then up Hythe Bridge Street, then into town via Queen Street and down The High again - all at a nice sedate 10 to 15 miles per hour.
There would be no fumes, no noise, and let's face it, everybody loves trams.
So, come on Oxford City Council, get rid of smelly old buses in our town centre. At least give trams a chance.
