A TRAIN operator has warned Oxfordshire customers that it will be running no services on two days next month due to strikes.

Members of rail union Aslef will walk out on October 1 and 5 in the latest of a series of strikes over fair pay.

Chiltern Railways has warned customers that on both days there will be no service on any of their routes. 

National train services across the UK will be very limited on both days, with no services in some places.

On October 2, trains will start later than usual, from approximately 9am, due to the displacement of trains, and customers should check timetables if they are travelling on the day.

Due to planned engineering works, Oxford station is closed on October 2, with rail replacement bus services between Oxford and Oxford Parkway for onward services to London Marylebone. 

The train operator said that services on October 6 shouldn’t be impacted, but trains may be busier than usual.

Chiltern also expects to operate a “significantly reduced” timetable on October 8 due to another strike, with further information to be confirmed in due course.

What happens if you have a ticket for those days?

If you have booked a ticket for October 1, it is valid for travel on  September 30 – October 4 inclusive.

If you have booked a ticket for October 5, it is valid for travel on October 4 - October 7 inclusive.
