A fundraiser for Pegasus Theatre's major redevelopment programme Building The Future, held last month, brought in £2960 through ticket sales. Something Old Something New featured artists well known to regular Pegasus audiences. Twenty or so acts performed over two nights on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th April, presenting favourite works from their repertoires, sightings of works in progress, premieres of new pieces and previews of performances due to be shown in full later in the year. Raffles and further donations brought the total towards the fundraising campaign to £3343.
The theatre has been fortunate to be generously supported by visiting artists, audiences, young participants and their parents throughout the campaign so far. Prior to the event and since January, they have helped raise the profile of the campaign and increase the campaign fund by nearly £10,000.
Artistic Director Euton Daley said of the progress of the campaign:
"We are really heartened by the support that our friends are lending to the campaign. Many have told me personally how important Pegasus has been to them and their children and that they are really looking forward to seeing a brand new Pegasus in the next few years. The encouragement we are receiving and the regard in which Pegasus is held by so many makes us convinced we are right to be developing this project and sure of our future success."
Pegasus is working to raise nearly £1 million by February 2008 in order to start the building work to upgrade and improve the venue in April of that year.
