Here we look back at photos of Icolyn 'Ma' Smith MBE who has died.

Tributes have been pouring in for Mrs Smith, who served the homeless meals for many years from a soup kitchen at the Asian Cultural Centre off Manzil Way.

For three decades Ma Smith fed the city’s homeless, including during the pandemic when the Oxford Community Soup Kitchen was allowed to reopen off Cowley Road.

The community volunteer, who has been awarded an MBE for her efforts as well as a Pride of Britain award in 2018, said at the time: “Since the lockdown we’ve never stopped but we weren’t able to cook the food in the centre due to the coronavirus.”

Ma Smith's efforts have also been recognised by Oxfordshire's Lord Lieutenant Tim Stevenson OBE, who visited the soup kitchen in 2013, and in 2015 a book was published to celebrate her life story.
