OXFORD is the ninth most likely place to suffer cycle theft, according to a report.
Halifax Home Insurance compiled the list based on the frequency of claims against policyholders in the area throughout 2007.
Oxford came below Reading and Bristol and joint ninth with Gloucester, in the list topped by South London. The average insurance claim for cycle theft in Oxford in 2007 was £416.52 According to police, 1,543 cycles were stolen in 2006/07. This figure has since fallen by 20 per cent.
