Like G Roberts, Blame parents (Oxford Mail, April 19), I was brought up to respect my elders, parents, teachers and the law and if you stepped out of line you got a clout.
Nowadays, parents are not allowed to do this and yet, those persistent offenders have no discipline. Some are second generation yobs which I am ashamed to say is a legacy from the Tory years, who, if I am correct, abolished corporal punishment.
I agree about the Tories doing away with the link between incomes and pensions, but Labour have had 11 years to sort this out and have promised to put this right in 2012.
Heaven knows how they will.
I wonder if this is just a sweetener as many old folk are dissatisfied, what with all the higher costs of living, not to mention the council tax.
I never liked it when the Tories privatised the utilities either, but I have them to thank for the right to buy and I now own my home.
Had I not, I would still be renting it, so I haven't done anyone out of a council house.
I have criticised the NHS in letters, but never the level of care by the medical teams who are fantastic. My concern is the postcode lottery, where some cancer patients are refused drugs because of money. There's too much bureaucracy and a lot of money is wasted. It's the same with the police - far too much paperwork.
I do not like what this Labour Government is doing to this country. It has allowed the EU too much control, it has not supported our armed forces, either on the front line or at home, and has failed, because of their human rights, to deport those who are prepared to murder us.
