POLICE today warned people in East Oxford that a number of women have been approached by a man late at night.
There have been three incidents in the last week in the Iffley Road area where a man has approached women on their way home and tried to engage them in conversation.
Police said the incidents occurred at:
- Percy Street at 11pm on Monday and at 4am on Thursday, May 1
- Iffley Road at 2.30am on Saturday.
Police have not issued any description of the man involved.
Det Sgt Kev Elkins, of Oxford CID, said: "Thankfully none of these incidents have proven to be very serious, but until we trace the man, or men, involved and speak to him about his motives, we would advise local women to take care late at night or very early in the morning.
"Can I remind people of our usual safety advice: walk home with friends and if you are alone, take a licensed taxi.
"We would also like to hear from anyone else who has been approached by a man in the area.
"It may have seemed like a trivial incident at the time, but you could have important information for us."
