Vale of White Horse Under 14s retained the Vale Cup with a 5-2 win over Stroud in the decider at Tetbury FC.

The hosts needed only a draw to lift the cup, which is played for on a league basis.

But Vale attacked from the start, and Ryan Tappin had a header from a corner cleared off the line.

He made no mistake shortly afterwards, though, heading home from another Ben Whitehead corner.

Whitehead increased Vale's lead early in the second half, and Oliver Taylor added No 3.

However, Stroud pulled two goals to put the match back in the melting pot.

But two goals in the last three minutes saw Vale clinch victory.

A goalkeeping error gifted Whitehead his second, before an own goal sealed Vale's triumph.

It continued an impressive season for Vale, who won all four of their games at the ESFA Isle of Wight Festival.

And they will be going for more silverware when they face Mid Oxon in The Oxford Times Cup final at Old Woodstock Town FC on Friday (6.30).
