My mother always used her local post office until it closed, then she had to go to Templars Square at Cowley, Oxford.
She queued there for 10-30 minutes each week, according to how busy they were.
As she got older (she is now in her 80s), this got too much so we had her pension paid into the bank.
I withdrew her money and she would pay her bills at Templars Square post office in cash when it was less busy.
What a shock this week!
The post office wanted £2.35 as a fee for paying water rates each time.
Eight payments are due throughout the year, making an extra £18.80 a year.
This is one elderly person who can no longer afford to use the post office.
