I had occasion, while visiting the doctor recently, to park my car and visit the nearby gents' toilet.
I was surprised by the amount of toilet paper and general debris on the floor.
Half the taps worked and half the hand driers were out of action. But the worst feature of this facility was the appalling smell.
I have used toilets in Northern France, Morocco and Turkey, but none smelled as bad as the toilet in the multi-storey car park in Abingdon.
Are these toilets never inspected? At a time when we are trying to lure tourists back into our dying town, with its empty shops and expensive parking, we need to keep track of basic hygiene.
Any visitor stepping from his car into the car park and then into the toilet would quickly wipe his feet, get in the car and leave town double quick.
