Oxford A-lister was a no-show at the NYC premiere of her new Don't Worry Darling, further fuelling rumours of a major falling out with its director Olivia Wilde and her partner Harry Styles.

Co-stars such as Gemma Chan and Sydney Chandler appeared, yet Ms Pugh and Chris Pine were absent.

It is the latest chapter in the ongoing drama that surrounds the psychological thriller.

Ms Pugh, who said she was 'totally in love' with Miss Wilde a year before working with her, is the daughter of Oxford restaurateur Clinton Pugh, who owns Cafe Coco, Kazbar and Cafe Tarifa.

She went to a private school in Oxford.

Despite all the hype surrounding Don't Worry Darling, which tells the story of housewife Alice (Pugh) whose husband Jack (Styles) moves them into a utopian community for his new company.

It reportedly has a dismal 34 per cent critic approval rating (out of 64 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ms Pugh is currently on location shooting Dune: Part Two with Timothee Chalamet, which might explain her absence.

Chris Pine is in post-production on his feature directorial debut Poolman.

However, both actors did attend the world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 5 where footage of Mr STyles appearing to spit on Mr Pine went viral.

A representative for Mr Pine later vehemently denied that there had been any spitting.

Ms Pugh allegedly hated how Mr Styles and Ms Wilde got together and definitely hated how the movie was marketed to be overtly sexual.

Shia La Boeuf also leaked a video proving he quit and wasn't fired by Miss Wilde in wich the director condescendingly called Ms Pugh 'Miss Flo' behind her back.

Don't Worry Darling hits cinemas on September 23.
