The idea that we should be able to reduce the number of buses in Oxford's famous High is a good one. Unquestionably, there are many people who catch the London buses within the city. For the employees and students of the two universities, it is vital that the buses run along the High and through Headington.
There are, however, plenty of people who live in and outside the city, who have to travel now to get to a convenient point to catch the bus.
For many of them, it is already Thornhill park-and-ride. Why could it not also be Redbridge and Pear Tree park-and-rides?
There is a clear logic to running London buses from more park-and-rides. It is perhaps surprising that no bus operator has yet done it.
