Sir - What seems to be missing from the plans for the Weston Otmoor new town are any road proposals.

Whilst the public transport proposals can be applauded, however attractive these prove to be we can be sure that the new residents will not all work within the new town and will wish to use cars for many of their journeys just as the residents of earlier new towns do.

However, perhaps there is a hidden agenda and the developers are expecting that because this is the most traffic-clogged corner of Oxfordshire (Report, April 18), the new residents will be encouraged to use their new public transport. That may be OK for the new residents but what about existing travellers and the residents of surrounding towns and villages who will suffer increasing congestion and rat-running along minor roads.
