A 26-year-old man was jailed for a year yesterday after admitting trying to use a fake passport.
Oxford Crown Court heard Maksim Khitrushka tried to use the passport to open a bank account at an HSBC branch in Oxford earlier this month.
Jailing Khitrushka, of Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, Recorder Antonio Bueno recommended him for deportation to his native Belarus.
He said: "The integrity of the immigration laws in this country must be maintained."
