Firefighters were called to a flat in Jubilee Terrace on last night after neighbours smelt smoke.
Two fire crews from Rewley Road forced their way into the flat and found a man in the lounge.
He was subsequently treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital.
Watch manager Steve Anderson praised the alertness of neighbours and reminded people to check smoke detectors in their homes were fully functional.
