People living in a street dubbed a "racetrack" want traffic calming measures installed before someone is hurt.
About 20 residents claim motorists using Bucknell Road, Bicester, which runs past Brookside Primary School, have been breaking the 30mph speed limit.
They wrote to Oxfordshire County Council and the town council's traffic advisory committee calling for action but were told traffic calming was considered unnecessary.
Thelma Brown, 60, of Barry Avenue, said: "I"m amazed at the speed of the cars, it's astonishing. Drivers treat the road like a racetrack. School times are bad with parents dropping off and picking up children. A child only has to dash out and they will be knocked over."
Richard Forrest, 69, of Barry Avenue, added: "The county council are delaying doing anything about it. I cannot see what the problem is in getting some form of calming measure put in place."
