A WOMAN is facing jail after admitting two breaches of an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo).

Didcot magistrates told mother-of-four Shannon Ryan, of Abingdon, her behaviour had been unacceptable and the breaches could lead to a prison sentence.

Ryan, 26, of Daisy Bank, was given a three-year Asbo and fined £2,250 in September last year for breaching noise abatement notices.

The Vale of White Horse District Council applied for the order following complaints from neighbours who said Ryan had launched torrents of drunken abuse, hurled beer cans out of windows and played loud music throughout the night.

Ryan, who is unemployed, appealed against the Asbo at Oxford Crown Court in December and her fine was reduced to £300.

A ban on adults visiting her flat between 11pm and 7am in place was also lifted, although the restrictions on playing loud music and swearing and shouting at neighbours and visiting officials remained in place.

Five of seven alleged breaches of her Asbo were dismissed by magistrates on Tuesday because a key witness failed to show up at court.

Ryan subsequently pleaded guilty to the two remaining counts.

The charges included that just six weeks after the Asbo was imposed she allowed a 30-year-old man into her flat after 11pm and shouted and swore at officers called to the scene.

In a statement, PC Claire Ashton told the court Ryan had a can of lager in her hand when officers entered her flat and that she claimed the man with her was only 17 and therefore not an adult.

She said: "She was clearly very intoxicated and she continued to swear and protest down three flights of stairs."

Vale solicitor Suzanne Green added: "The Asbo is a culmination of persistent antisocial behaviour and as such the order can only be effective if breaches are taken seriously."

Defence solicitor Eric Parker said Ryan took full responsibility for the breaches.

Magistrates chairman Rosalind Young ordered the probation service to investigate Ryan's alcohol problems before sentence was passed.

She added: "The antisocial behaviour order was made just six weeks previously and it sought to prohibit exactly this continued pattern of behaviour."

Ryan is due to be sentenced by Didcot magistrates on May 15, when she will be tried on two further alleged Asbo breaches.
