Sir - I was absolutely appalled at both Christopher Gray's comments (Gray Matter, April 11) and the fact that they were allowed to be printed in a supposed quality newspaper.
Admitting to breaking the law for reasons of inconvenience, incompetence at handling the roads and ignorance is shocking.
The Highway Code has been implemented over many years for a reason. Mr Gray's arrogance and lack of judgement does not absolve him of responsibility.
He has shown himself to be foolish and to have a somewhat blinkered experience and attitude to others before, but this is too far.
It is unsafe to cycle on pavements non-stop, puts cyclists in a bad image and shows irresponsibility - though few would follow his example!
