Sir - When inveighing against the "vandalism" of the High Street by transport planners (Report April 11), the bursars of All Souls and University College lost a splendid opportunity to quote from A. D. Godley's 1914 poem The Motor Bus which contains the magnificent lines:
What is this that roareth thus?
Can it be a Motor Bus?
Yes, the smell, and hideous hum
Indicat Motorem Bum!
Implet in the Corn and High
Terror me Motoris Bi . . .
