POLICE will today take shoppers in Oxford back in time when they celebrate reducing crime to its lowest level since 1989.
Four officers will be representing the characters from the BBC 1 series, Ashes to Ashes, in an event at the Westgate shopping centre, which will also give members of the public tips on how to protect themselves and their property from crime.
The group, who volunteered to give up their time and dress in eighties costumes to attract the attention of visitors to the city, will also be available for photographs along with a trademark red Audi quattro, supplied by an enthusiastic local member of the Audi quattro Owners Club.
They will be assisted by Graham Milne, Crime Reduction Officer, in educating people on the best ways to prevent crime and in postcode marking items such as mobile phones.
