Police are appealing for witnesses after a house in Park Road in Faringdon was burgled on Thursday between 1.15pm and 6.20pm.
The burglars tried to force open the front door but were unable to. Instead they forced open a ground floor window at the rear of the property, and stole about £50 from a purse which was in the living room.
PC Maria Morrisey, of Abingdon police station, said: "This is a distressing incident for the owner of the house and we are keen to catch those responsible."
Anyone with any information should contact PC Morrisey at Abingdon police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don't want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
