AIR cadets from Kidlington are flying high after winning the top regional award in a competition to find the most innovative fundraising idea for charity.
The Royal Air Forces Association's Top Flight competition recognises the fundraising efforts of air cadets across the country, with entries judged on creativity, effort, income per cadet, presentation and publicity.
Kidlington Air Cadets held a 15-mile sponsored cycle ride at RAF Weston-on-the-Green last November, followed by a recreation of the Battle of Britain - with bicycles taking the place of planes.
The event - called Ride for RAFA - raised more than £500, to help both serving and former RAF personnel.
At a ceremony earlier in the month, the squadron's 25 teenagers were named overall winners in the region and presented with a cheque for £100 and a framed print of the Red Arrows display team in action.
Commanding officer Annabel Cook, front, said: "I'm very proud of them. It was a real achievement."
