A 41-year-old man died today afternoon after falling from the Castle car park in Cowley, Oxford.
Police were called at 3.30pm after reports a man had fallen from the multi-storey car park, near Templars Square shopping centre, in Between Towns Road.
The man, who has not yet been named, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he later died.
Caterer Kim Payne, 49, of Westfield Close, Cowley, said: "A man was up there for about 10 minutes.
"I was serving a customer and turned around to get her food when she said oh my god he has jumped'.
"The next thing the police arrived and the man was being taken away."
More than 15 police officers, including a team from the forensic investigation unit, attended the scene.
Bradley Declerck, was at home in Rymers Lane, Cowley, when he was distracted by a man at the top of the car park.
The 21-year-old said: "I saw about five police officers on the top of the car park talking to the man, who was wearing a tracksuit.
"I thought they were trying to negotiate him down.
"I was watching my film and wasn't sure what was going on outside, so I went out to see what was going on.
"We have seen loads of people dropping off before. It's crazy."
The area was cordoned off for more than an hour-and-a-half.
