A 92-year-old golfer whose buggy crashed into a bunker, overturned and trapped him during a round at Southfield Golf Course yesterday, has died of his injuries.
The man - who was named by the club as Ralph Woodward - died at midday in the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Yesterday, firefighters and paramedics had to cut the pensioner free after the accident and resuscitate him.
He was playing with his 91-year-old companion, named by the club as Neil Kitchen - the driver of the buggy, when the incident happened close to the fourth tee of the Hill Top Road club in East Oxford.
A hospital spokesman said Mr Kitchen was now at home, recovering with his family.
Club secretary Colin Whittle said the pair were stalwarts of the club, often playing two-to-three times a week.
