An elderly golfer whose buggy crashed into a bunker, overturned and trapped him during a round at Southfield Golf Course yesterday, has died of his injuries.
The man - who was named by the club as Ralph Woodward, who was in his 90s - died at noon in the John Radcliffe Hospital.
As reported by the Oxford Mail yesterday, firefighters and paramedics had to cut the pensioner free after the accident and resuscitate him.
He was playing with his 91-year-old companion, named by the club as Neil Kitchen, who was in his mid-80s - the driver of the buggy, when the incident happened close to fourth tee of the Hill Top Road club in East Oxford.
A hospital spokesman said Mr Kitchen was now at home, recovering with his family.
Club secretary Colin Whittle said the pair were stalwarts of the club, often playing two-to-three times a week.
