POLICE are hunting for a man who climbed in through a woman's bedroom window and placed a towel over her head.
The woman was in her ground-floor bedroom in Church Lane, Yarnton, at 10pm last night when the man got inside.
He put a towel over her head and told her not to scream.
But the woman, in her 20s, did scream and the man climbed out of the window and fled.
He is described as white, 30 years old, about 6ft tall with a large, athletic build with short dark hair. He was smartly dressed.
Det Sgt Mark Torrington said: "This is a distressing incident and luckily nothing was stolen and the woman wasn't injured. I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact me."
Police believe the man was attempting to commit a burglary rather than attack the woman.
Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
