HEAVILY pregnant she may be, but Amy Beatty is looking for a "waddling" partner to join her in this year's Race for Life.
The 21-year-old mother-of-one from Witney will be eight months' pregnant when she takes part in the event on Sunday, June 8, in Oxford's University Parks.
Last year, her mother Sheila Temple, 50, joined her, but this year she is unable to take part, so Amy is looking for a volunteer to walk the course with her.
She said: "Last year, I did the race eight weeks after giving birth to my daughter Siobhan - and this year I'll walk the course with my new little girl still in my tummy.
"It will probably be tough, but I really want to take part and raise some money for Cancer Research UK and I think if I can find a nice person to walk with me, I'll be fine."
Race for Life is the UK's largest women-only fundraising event. Women of all ages, many of whom are suffering from or have battled with cancer, walk, jog, or run 5km to raise money for research into the disease.
This year, there will be three Race for Life events in Oxfordshire, at University Parks on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, followed by another event at Heythrop Park, on Sunday, June 22.
Mrs Beatty said: "I'm taking advantage of being pregnant by asking people to sponsor me double the amount. My aunty Margaret Carter has beaten breast cancer twice and I think if she can do that, then I can do my bit for Race for Life, even if I have to waddle."
