At last, we seem to be getting some coordination in our transport policies.
It has been a complete nonsense that at three Oxford park-and-ride sites, you have to pay for parking, while at the other two, you don't.
The confusion has been caused because of the conflicting policies of the two authorities which run them, Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council.
Many motorists have been caught out and fined for failing to pay to park at the three city-run sites.
The Oxford economy relies heavily on tourism, yet what a welcome we give visitors when we slap a penalty of up to £100 on them for failing to pay for a £1 parking ticket.
Now, hopefully, that will soon be a thing of the past when all five sites come under the control of Oxfordshire County Council.
Although passengers will still have to pay to travel on the bus, all parking charges will be abolished.
Not before time.
