A 71-year-old man foiled two thieves who tried to rob him at knifepoint in Banbury today.
He was waiting in his car for his wife to finish shopping at the Tesco supermarket, in Lockheed Close, when two Asian men tried to steal a mobile phone visible in the vehicle.
One of the thieves thrust a knife through the half-open driver's window to demand the phone, but when the pensioner reached for it he shoved open the car door with his shoulder, and the men ran off.
Anyone with information about the incident, which happened at 12.10pm, should call Pc Keith Devonish on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
