Sir - I am appalled at the letter from Mr R Foster-Jones (April 11), for it is a slant on the bus pass concession that is simply distorted and untrue.
There is no curfew at 11pm, for if he needs to be on a bus after 11pm then he must simply pay for his single journey home. Surely he is not that hard up.
However I do find this general knocking of the new facility for the over 60s dreadful. Here we have something we have not had before, and all the, I feel, selfish minority can do, is just heap criticism on it. Many pensioners like myself have, if they are honest about it, more available cash than say an ordinary family has on today's basic wage.
So, whilst I would prefer the State pension to be adequate, so we could pay our way and not have all the concessions that are available, I say, in the meantime, to those I feel selfish few, just be more grateful for what we have and stop being so greedy.
There is many a family who really need this kind of untaxed concession, more that many of us OAPs do.
