WORK to replace Heyford station railway bridge has overrun but county council officials say it will be finished this weekend.
In January Network Rail and contractor MPB Structures started a 12-week programme to demolish the old bridge and replace it with one for vehicles up to 40 tonnes in weight.
The B4030 through Lower Heyford was due to reopen on Monday, March 31, but because of delays getting gas, water and telephone services reinstated over the new bridge, it is expected to reopen tomorrow.
Traffic has been diverted through Middleton Stoney, Kirtlington and Hopscrofts Holt, which caused problems for businesses, groups and residents, as well as parents taking their children to and from Steeple Aston's Dr Radcliffe's Primary School.
