Our hearts go out to the family of schoolboy skier Benjamin Trichler, who died after crashing into a tree in America's Rocky Mountains.
An inquest heard that he was skiing too fast on the piste, and was wearing a skateboarding helmet, which was not designed for skiing.
Skiing holidays are becoming increasingly popular among the young, and no-one would want to deny them the opportunity of experiencing life in the fast lane.
But from Benjamin's tragic death, there are lessons for every potential skier to learn.
