FIVE teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following a fight in James Street, in East Oxford, yesterday.
Police were called to the junction of James Street and Cowley Road at 6.15pm after reports of a disturbance involving up to 15 people.
Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with facial injuries. They were released last night.
Police said it is not yet known what caused the injuries, although it is believed that weapons were involved.
Oxford Deputy Local Police Area Commander, Chief Insp Jack Malhi, said: "I would like to reassure the community of East Oxford that this was an isolated incident.
"I appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident take place, or has any information that could assist police inquiries, to contact police immediately."
Late yesterday evening, three 17-year-old boys, one 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, all from Oxford, were arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and are in custody at St Aldate's Police Station.
