Schoolchildren in Burford got star treatment on Friday when TV's new Miss Marple turned up to join in the school assembly and open an outdoor learning area.
Stage and screen actress Julia McKenzie is pictured receiving a bouquet from pupil Bethany Timms, watched by the Rev Richard Coombs and teacher Zoe Duff.
Ms McKenzie, who has replaced Geraldine McEwan in the role on TV, was invited to perform the official opening by one of the governors of Burford Primary School. She then joined the children to hear them sing and also to read them some poetry.
The new area, built with funding support from the county council, enables children as young as three years old to join the school in foundation stage learning.
