Residents in East Oxford have been complaining about cars parking on pavements and obstructing access for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
It seems a lot of the offending cars belong to students at Oxford Brookes University in Headington.
When I was a student, virtually everyone walked to the campus and I used to enjoy the bracing, windswept journey from my digs to the hilly campus at Exeter University.
Why can't these lazy students walk to Oxford Brookes campus? Are they not able to walk?
Many students profess to be environmentally aware and concerned about climate change, yet I have never seen so many cars as in university term time.
It is rank hypocrisy.
All these eco-friendly students should abandon their cars and take up cycling. This will free up a lot of spaces in East Oxford for residents.
The Chancellor of Oxford Brookes, Jon Snow, should make it a condition that students do not drive to campus and I shall be writing to him shortly about this matter.
Mr Snow, of Channel 4 news fame, is a seasoned campaigner, so perhaps he should put his own backyard in order and get rid of these student cars.
