Tossing a cigarette end into the street may not have been the crime of the century, but Tory councillor Melinda Tilley should know better.
Unlike ordinary folk, who have been fined for such an offence, she escaped with a warning.
Some might suspect this was done because of her exalted position as leader of the opposition on the Vale of White Horse District Council.
What's more, there is no hint of an apology from her - her reaction amounts to little more than a dismissive "Well, so what?"
It is not the type of behaviour - or the type of response - we expect from our elected representatives, particularly those holding a senior position.
There is far too much rubbish in our streets, and people like Mrs Tilley should be setting an example.
Shame on her!
