When Albert Fulkes asked Ann Mills to dance, little did he realise that they would be spending the rest of their lives together.
The couple met at Brett's School of Dancing, above what is now Boswells in Broad Street, Oxford, and have gone on to enjoy 50 years of marriage.
Mrs Fulkes, 69, said: "I don't think we have ever had a serious argument in all these years."
The couple, who live in Cherwell Drive, Marston, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and friends at the bowls club in Cornwallis Road, Cowley.
Speaking about the secret to a long and happy marriage, Mr Fulkes, 71, said he thought it was down to the similar interests they shared.
He said: "We both play for Florence Park Bowls Club, where I'm president and Ann is secretary.
"It's so different these days. There are so many things for people to do that couples can go their separate ways with regards to interests. But we've stuck together."
