Figures from the police have revealed the number of casualties on Cowley Road during the last six years.

The data is sourced from Thames Valley Police’s and Hampshire Constabulary’s joint TVP Hampshire Accident Site.

The website displays the location of reported road traffic collisions that occurred within the area policed by Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police.

Between 2016 and 2021, the data shows there were 45 collisions on the East Oxford road.

There has been a downward trend of collisions during this period, with 15 recorded in 2016 but by 2021 there were just three.

Within this, there were a total of 52 casualties from these incidents.

These casualties include all levels of injury as well as death.

Again, this follows a similar trend where there were 19 casualties in 2016 but just four by 2021.

Alongside collisions and casualties, the website also reveals information about the number of offences recorded on Cowley Road.

‘Offences’ in this context refers to speeding offences captured by cameras along the road.

Here, there is quite a different trend. The number of offences on the road has risen dramatically, from 31 in 2016 to 409 in 2020.

Data for 2021 offences has yet to be released.
