YOUNG drivers will be sent on an education course if they get caught committing motoring offences in Oxfordshire.
His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent was set to launch The Young Driver Scheme today.
The scheme allows anyone aged under 25 to take a course instead of receiving three points on their licence and a £60 fine.
It will be managed operationally by DriveTech (UK) who deliver all driver diversion schemes for Thames Valley Police.
The new scheme aims to target vulnerable motorists and reduce the risk of young drivers becoming involved in serious injury and fatal road collisions.
Across the Thames Valley, more than a third of all casualties on the roads involve 16 to 25-year-olds.
