TRAINS between Banbury and Oxford were delayed this afternoon following a death on the line near Tackley.
Adrian Booth, a spokesman for First Great Western, said the person, believed to be a woman, died after being hit by the CrossCountry train near Tackley shortly after 3pm.
FGW's 15.02 service between Banbury and Oxford terminated at Heyford and passengers were taken by taxi to Oxford.
The 16.23 service from Oxford to Banbury was cancelled and Mr Booth said: "We hope normal services will be resumed as soon as possible."
Network Rail spokesman Becky Warren said: "The line is currently still closed.
"It appears that someone was hit by a train and British Transport Police are investigating."
No one from British Transport Police was available for comment.
